Sherrill is a sculptor, and it is the three-dimensionality of sculpture — along with its tangibility and connection to humanity — that continues to excite him. His sculpture has even found a home at the White House. Sherrill was moved by the election of President Barack Obama to do a head of the president that captures the curving planes of his face for his “Legends”.
How the sculpted head made it to the White House is a winding road, somewhat like the creation of Sherrill’s sculptures.
